Solution

The correct option is B False

Neutron:

  • James Chadwick in 1932 performed some scattering experiments in which he bombarded some light elements like Beryllium(Be) and Boron(B) with fast-moving Alpha particles.
  • He found that some new particles were emitted that carried no charge i.e were neutral but had mass nearly equal to that of the proton. This particle was termed a ‘Neutron’.
  • Thus, a neutron is defined as that fundamental particle that carries no charge but has a mass nearly equal to that of a Hydrogen atom(H) or proton.

Therefore, the given statement is false.
