Fruit that develops from the ovary is called as true fruit e.g., mango. But in some species, the thalamus produces the fleshy edible part (fruit) and it is called false or Pseudo fruit e.g., apple. In banana, the development of fruit takes place without fertilisation. Such type of fruit is called parthenocarpic fruit or seedless fruit or virgin fruit.
