A number is selected at random from 1 to 50. What is the probability that it is a multiple of 6

Open in App
Solution

The total number of outcomes are 50.

Now, if a number is selected at random then the possible outcomes that it is a multiple of 6 are
{6,12,18,24,30,36,42,48} which means the number of favourable outcome is 8.

Therefore, probability P that it is a multiple of 6 is:

P=850=425

Hence, the probabilitythat it is a multiple of 6 is 425.
