A packet-switching network
Packet switching:-
Packet switchingis a method of grouping data which is transmitted over a digital network into packets. Packets are made of a header and a payload. Data in the header is used by networking hardware to direct the packet to its destination where the payload is extracted and used by application software.
Packet-switched describes the type of network in which relatively small units of data called packets are routed through a network based on the destination address contained within each packet.
It can reduce the cost of using an information utility.
It allows communications channels to be shared among more than one user.
