The correct option is C 5 litres
Quantity of blue paint in the mixture =10% of 40
=4 litres
Quantity of white paint in the mixture
=40-4 =36 litres
Let, x litres blue paint be added
$∴$ According to the question, in the final mixture
$\frac{Q u a n t i t y o f b l u e p a i n t}{Q u a n t i t y o f w h i t e p a i n t} = \frac{4 + x}{36} = \frac{20}{80}$
$4 + x = \frac{20 \times 36}{80} ∴ x = 9 - 4 = 5 l i t r e s .$
