A part of the circuit is shown in figure. Here reading of ammeter is $5ampere$ and voltmeter is $96V$ & voltmeter resistance is $480ohm$. Then find the resistance $R$ in ohms

Current through voltmeter is

$I=\frac{V}{I}=\frac{96}{480}=0.2A$

Hence current through R is

$I^{\prime }=5-0.2=4.8A$

Therefore,

$R=\frac{V}{I^{\prime }}=\frac{96}{4.8}=20\Omega$
