Question

A particle complete 4 revolutions per second on a circular path of radius 0.25m. What is the angular velocity and centripetal acceleration of the particle.

Open in App
Solution

n=4 rev/s
angular velocity ω =2πn =8π rad/s

angular velocity = v/r

where V = constant speed
r - radius

Centripetal acceleration = v^2/r

multiplying and dividing by r

Centripetal accleration = (v^2 * r)/ (r^2)

w^2 = (v^2)/(r^2)

Centripetal acceleration = (8*pi)^2 * 0.25 = 16 * pi^2 = 157.75 m/s2
