Solution

The correct option is A vπ

When particle reaches to the final position after half revolution, the net displacement in xdirection will be

Δx=x2x1

Δx=(Rcos60)(Rcos60)

Δx=2Rcos60=R

Time interval for the travel is given by

Δt=T2=(2πRv)2=πRv

We know that

(vavg)x=ΔxΔt

(vavg)x=(R)πR/v=vπ

Hence, option (a) is correct.
Why this Question?
Tip: Average velocity is a vector quantity and in problems asking for vavg, be very careful about the direction of displacement during a given time interval.

Bottom line: The direction of displacement can be represented by + & sign for a single direction i.e., x or y direction.
