A particle moving towards south in a vertically downward magnetic field is deflected toward the east. What is the sign of the charge on the particle?

If we apply Fleming left hand thumb rule, if the direction of the particle towards east and magnetic field is vertically downward, then the force on the particle towards east and this is possible when particle is moving along the direction of the current. Hence the particle is positive in nature.
