Question

A particle moving with an initial velocity of 5 m/s is subjected to a uniform acceleration of -2.5 m/s2 . find the displacement in the next 4 seconds.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given data:

Initial velocity = u = 5 m/s

Acceleration = a = -2.5 m/s2

Time = t = 4 sec

We have to find the displacement

Step 2: Finding the displacement

From the second equation of motion

s=ut+12at2

Putting all the values

s=5×412×2.5×4×4

s=202.5×2×4

s=205×4

s=0

Hence the displacement of the particle in 4 sec is 0.
