A particle revolves uniformly along a circle on a smooth horizontal table by means of a string connected to it. Does angular momentum of the particle change from its initial value if string is cut suddenly? What is the value of angular momentum?

Solution

When a particle revolves in a horizontal circular path and when the string imparting this angular momentum is cut thenits angular momentum is changed. It becomes zero because as soon as string is cut the particle moves in a straight line,so there is no angular speed.
