Distance travelled by the particle is of the particle in vt graph is area under the graph

Hence,
S= area under graph (time t=0 to 5 s)
S= area under graph (time t=0 to 2 s) + area under graph (time t=2 to 4 s) + area under graph (time t=4 to 5 s)

S=12×2×2+2×2+3×1=9 m.
