Let the total distance be d.
In the first part of journey, particle travels distance d2 with speed 6m/s, so corresponding time.

The times of second and third parts of the journey are equal t2=t3. The sum of distances of these
parts are d2 Let the distance of the second part of the journey be x. Then
t2=t3x2=d2x4x=d6m,
t2=d62=d12=t3
Total time of journey:
T=t1+t2+t3=3d12=d4s
