A passage has been given below with some blanks. Fill in the blanks with proper tense forms from the given options.
This is the story of a king who shifted his capital from Fatehpur Sikri to Agra. One day, the king (i) _________ (inform) by his ministers that the lake of Fatehpur Sikri was beginning to dry up. He did not pay any heed to them as he was preoccupied with hosting dignitaries from other States. The lake was Fatehpur Sikri’s only water source. The correct option is C Was informed
It is important to note that the story is in the past tense. So, the sentence can not be in the present tense. It has to be in the past tense. Option B is discarded based on this logic.
The ministers informed the king about the shortage of water. Since this sentence is in passive voice, the correct option is ‘was informed’.
In the given sentence, the subject is Akbar, and the verb is ‘informed’. He is the recipient of the action of the verb.
So, option C is correct.
