A path of uniform width $1.5 m$ runs around the inside of a rectangular plot of $80 m$ long and $60 m$ wide. Calculate the area of the path around the plot.

We have,

Length of rectangular plot $= 80 m .$

Breadth of rectangular plot $= 60 m .$

Now,

Area $= L e n g t h \times b r e a d t h$

Area $= 80 \times 60 = 4800 m^{2}$

If the path is all round the rectangular plot.

Then It’s length and breadth will increase.

So, the length of path

$= 80 + 1.5 + 1.5$

$= 80 + 3$

$= 83 m .$

Breadth of the path

$60 + 1.5 + 1.5$

$= 63 m .$

Area of the rectangular plot along with the path $= l \times b$

$A r e a = 83 \times 63$

$= 5229 m^{2}$

Therefore, Required area

$= 5229 - 4800$

$= 429 m^{2}$

Hence, this is the answer.
