Question

A path of uniform width 1.5 m runs around the inside of a rectangular plot of 80 m long and 60 m wide. Calculate the area of the path around the plot.

Open in App
Solution

We have,

Length of rectangular plot=80m.

Breadth of rectangular plot=60m.

Now,

Area =Length×breadth

Area=80×60=4800m2

If the path is all round the rectangular plot.

Then It’s length and breadth will increase.

So, the length of path

=80+1.5+1.5

=80+3

=83m.

Breadth of the path

60+1.5+1.5

=63m.

Area of the rectangular plot along with the path=l×b

Area=83×63

=5229m2

Therefore, Required area

=52294800

=429m2

Hence, this is the answer.
