Adrenal cortex secretes are glucocorticoids and mineralo-corticoids, the hormones that stimulate the reabsorption of sodium from renal.

Cortisol is a gluco-corticoid and aldosterone is a mineralocorticoid. These hormones maintains the electrolytic balance in body by stimulating the sodium reabsorption.

So, if a patient excretes large quantity of sodium in urine, this might occur due to decreased secretion of corticoid hormones from adrenal cortex and this may occur due to diseased adrenal cortex.
