On rubbing a permanent magnet over an iron bar, the iron bar will become a magnet. The point where the rubbing of the magnet starts, it develops the same pole as that of permanent magnet (Polarity of the end of the permanent magnet closer to iron bar). As at end W, the north pole of the permanent magnet is rubbed, north pole will be developed at end W. We know a magnet always exists with two poles, therefore end Z will have a south pole.
