Step 1: Given data,

The initial acceleration of the bus =0.05ms-2

The velocity of the person =1.5ms-1

Time is taken to catch =40s

The initial distance between the person and the bus is d m.

Step 2: Solution,

Distance traveled by bus in 40 s,

s=0+12×0.05×40×40

s=40m

Distance traveled by the person in 40 s,

s=1.5×40=60m.

So the distance d between them is 60-40=20m.

Hence the correct option is (C) 20 m.
