A person takes concentrated solution of salt. After sometime he starts vomiting. What is the phenomenon responsible for such a situation?
When person drinks concentrated salt solution then it eventually reaches to intestine. As salt solution contains more solutes than nearby tissues, then the water from those tissues start moving to intestine. This process is endosmosis in which the water molecules move from lower solute concentration to higher solute concentration through intestinal wall. Intestine cannot tolerate strain due to extra incoming water and hence, the extra water is spilled out through vomiting.
