He will observe that leaf will appear dead and yellow. The leaf will not grow back to its usual shape because as it is detached from the leaves, it will not get proper sunlight and water to be fresh and green. The chlorophyll gets degraded due to the absence of proper sunlight and water. If the leaves is attached to the plant this change will not be observed.
