A person wanted to sell a scooter at a loss of 25%. But at the last moment, he changed his mind and sold the scooter at a loss of 20%. If the difference in the two SP's is 4000, then find the CP of the scooter.

Let cost price of the scooter be x.
If he sells the scooter at a loss of 25%, then
SP=x25% of x=x25100x= 75100x
and if he sells the scooter at a loss of 20 %, then
SP=x20% of x=x20100x=80100x
It is given that the difference in the two SP's is ₹ 4000.
80100x75100x=400080x75x100=40005x100= 4000x=4000×1005
= 80000
Hence, cost price of scooter is 80000.
