Solution

The correct option is D Type O
ABO blood group system, the classification of human blood based on the inherited properties of red blood cells (erythrocytes) as determined by the presence or absence of the antigens A and B, which are carried on the surface of the red cells. Persons may have blood group
- type A: if the blood contains RBC carrying antigen A on their surface and antibodies against antigen B
- type B: if the blood contains RBC carry antigen B on their surface and antibodies against antigen A
- type O: if the blood contains RBC do not carry any antigen on their surface and antibodies against antigen A and B
- type AB: if the blood contains RBC carry antigen A and antigen B on their surface and do not have antibodies against both antigen A and B
Blood group O individuals do not have either A or B antigens on the surface of their RBCs and hence can donate blood to individuals of any ABO blood group.
