Energy due to this photographic flash is given by:
EP=P×t
EP=2000×0.04 J
Also, we know that energy stored in a fully stored capacitor is given by EC=12CV2.
Now, we know as the energy given by flashlight is due to discharge from capacitor
EP=EC
2000×0.04 = 12×40×106×V2
V2=4×106
V=2×103=2000 V
The voltage to which it is charged before a flash is produced is 2000 V
