The correct option is B: $\frac{5}{8}$ metre
Total length of wire $= \frac{7}{8}$ meter
Length of first part $= \frac{1}{4}$ meter

Length of first part $+$ Length of remaining part $=$ Total length of the wire

$\Rightarrow$ Length of remaining part $=$ Total length of the wire $-$ Length of first part

Length of remaining part $= \frac{7}{8} - \frac{1}{4}$
$= \frac{(7) - (1 \times 2)}{8}$ [ $∵$ L.C.M of $8$ and $4$ is $8$ ]
$= \frac{7 - 2}{8} = \frac{5}{8}$
Therefore, the length of remaining part is $\frac{5}{8}$ metre.
