In the second row from the left, the cubes are arranged in 5 row and 5 columns. Exclude the rows and columns on the sides. It leaves with 3 rows and 3 columns. Therefore, cubes that are not coloured are 9 cubes in the second column,
Similarly, in the next column, there are 2 such rows and 3 columns, so cubes not coloured are 6
In the next column, there is one row and 3 columns, so cubes not coloured are 3.
Total number of cubes not coloured are 9+6+3=18 cubes
Answer is Option D
