A pilgrim started from a shrine. After walking straight for 100m, he moved to his right and then after 500m, he again moved to his right. After walking a distance of 100m, he moved to his left and then walked 200m. He again moved to his right and walked 700m.
What is the distance of his location from the shrine?

The correct option is A 990 m
Suppose a pilgrim starts from point A.
As per the given data, suppose he stops at point C.
So, at the end he makes a right angle triangle ABC, with B=90o.
Base BC=700m and height AB=700m.
Then by Pythagoras theorem,
AC2=AB2+BC2
=7002+7002
=4900+4900=9800
AC=990m.
