Solution

The correct option is C 291.61 kJ
For Nitrogen,

CVN2=¯RMN2(γ1)=8.314328(1.41)=0.74235kJ/kgK

For Argon,

CVAr=¯RMAr(γ1)=8.314340(1.6671)=0.31163kJ/kgK

For mixture,

CV=mN2×CVN2+mAr×CVArmN2+mAr=1×0.74235+2×0.311631+2

=0.4552 kJ/kgK

Equivalent gas constant mixture,

R=mN2RN2+mAr+RArm=1×8.314328+2×8.3143403

=0.29694+0.4157153=0.23755 kJ/kgK

For mixture

CP=R+CV=0.23755+0.4552

= 0.69275 kJ/kgK

Initial volume,

V1=mRT1P1=3×0.23755×300100=2.738m3

Final volume,

V2=V1+1=3.1382.138=1.4677

T2T1=T1(1.46771)=300×0.4677=140.318K

Q=mcp×ΔT=3×0.69275×140.318

= 291.6158 kJ
