Question

A pit 2 m long and 2 m broad is to be dug in a place which is 12.4 m long and 10.2 m broad. Find the area of the plot left after the pit is dug.

Open in App
Solution

Length of the pit = 2 m
Breadth of the pit = 2 m
Area of pit = side × side
= 2 × 2 m2
= 4 m2
Length of the plot = 12.4 m
Breadth of the plot = 10.2 m
Area of the plot = length × breadth
= 12.4 × 10.2 m2
= 126.48 m2
Area of the plot left after the pit is dug = Area of the plot − Area of pit
= 126.48 m2 − 4 m2
= 122.48 m2
