A plane is flying at a height of $ 5000 m$ above sea level. At a particular point, it is exactly above a submarine floating $ 1200 m$ below sea level. What is the vertical distance between them?

Given,

The plane is flying at a height =5000m

Depth of Submarine =-1200m (negative sign indicates the distance below level)

Distance between plane and submarine =5000m-(-1200)m

=5000m+1200m=6200m

Hence, the distance between a plane and submarine=6200m.
