A plane mirror and a concave mirror are arranged as shown in figure and O is a point object. Find the position of the image formed after two reflections, first one taking place at the concave mirror.

The correct option is C 100 cm below A
For first reflection at concave mirror,
object distance, u=110 cm,
focal length, f=R2=100 cm

From mirror formula,
1v+1u=1f
1v1110=1100

1v=11100

v=1100 cm

That means image (I1) will be formed 100 cm behind the plane mirror.


I1 will act as the (virtual) object for plane mirror. Since plane mirror is making 45 with vertical axis, so a real image will form 100 cm below the point A.

So, final image (I2) will be real and formed at a distance 100 cm below point A.
