A plant cell has 12 chromosomes at the end of mitosis. How many chromosomes would it have in the G2 phase of its next cell cycle?
12
In G2 phase, also called as second growth phase or pre-mitotic gap phase, the DNA synthesis stops after doubling in the S-phase. Even though the DNA content has doubled, the chromosome number still remains the same i.e. 12 in the G2 phase of its next cell cycle.
