Solution

The correct option is B Bacillus amyloliquefaciens
Restriction enzymes are molecular scissors which are used to cleave phosphodiester bonds between consecutive nucleotides within specific DNA sequences known as recognition sequences.

Recognition sequences are generally palindromic. Palindromic sequences are sequences of base pairs in the DNA that reads the same on both the strands when the orientation of reading is kept the same.

A plasmid having a recognition sequence of 5' GGATCC 3' is recognised by the restriction enzyme BamH I and it cleaves between G and G.
5' GGATCC 3'
3' CCTAGG 5'

Restriction enzymes are produced by bacteria as they provide a defense mechanism against invading viruses. As these restriction enzymes cut DNA at specific sites, these are isolated from bacteria and used in recombinant DNA technology.

BamH I is isolated from the bacterium Bacillus amyloliquefaciens.
B - Bacillus, am - amyloliquefaciens, H is the strain of the bacteria and the roman number I indicates the order in which the enzymes were isolated from the same organism.

Various restriction enzymes are also isolated from Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris which are widely used in biotechnology.
