A plastic box 1.5 m long, 1.2 m wide and 65 cms deep is to be made. It is to be opening at the top. Ignoring the thickness of the plastic sheet, determine :

1 . The areas of the sheet required tor making the box
2. The cost of sheet for it, if a sheet measuring 1 sq .m costs rs 20

l = 1.5 m
b = 1.2 m
h = 65 cm = 0.65 m
Area of sheet required = Area of box
= Area of 4 walls + Area of base
$=2(b\times h)+2(l\times h)+l\times b$
$=2(1.2\times 0.65)+2(1.5\times 0.65)+(1.5\times 1.2)$
$=1.56+1.95+1.8$
$=5.31m^2$
Cost of $1m^2=Rs.20$
Cost of $5.31m^2=5.31\times 20=Rs.106.2$
