The metallic pencil box would become hotter after an hour. As metallic pencil box is a conductor of heat whereas a plastic pencil box is an insulator of heat. We know that when a conductor is placed in heat, it conducts the heat and its own temperature increases. Same happens with a metal pencil box when placed directly under the sun. Heat from the sun flows to the metal pencil box making it hotter.
