Question

A player throws a ball at an angle of 30o up with the horizontal with a velocity of 14m/s. If the point of projection is at a height of 12m from the ground, then calculate the distance up to which the ball is thrown by the player. (g=10m/s2)

Solution

It will follow parabolic path
Range is given as,
R=u2sin2θg
R=142×sin609.8
R=17.32m
Time taken to reach the ground in next part
=2Hg
=2×129.8
=1.56sec
Distance traveled in next part
S=ut
S=14×1.56
S=21.84m
Total distance=21.84+17.32=39.16m
