A point A is 17 cm away from the center of the circle and the length of tangent drawn from A to the circle is 15 cm. Find the radius of the circle.

Given that AB = 15 cm, AO = 17 cm

To find BO

Applying Pythagoras theorem

BO2 = AO2AB2

BO2 = 172152

BO2 = 289 – 225

BO2 = 64

BO = 8 cm

Therefore the radius of the circle is 8 cm
