A point A is 17 cm away from the center of the circle and the length of tangent drawn from A to the circle is 15 cm. Find the radius of the circle.
Given that AB = 15 cm, AO = 17 cm
To find BO
Applying Pythagoras theorem
BO2 = AO2 – AB2
BO2 = 172 – 152
BO2 = 289 – 225
BO2 = 64
BO = 8 cm
Therefore the radius of the circle is 8 cm
