A police siren emits a sinusoidal wave with frequency fs=300Hz. The speed of sound is 340m/s. The wavelength of the waves if the siren is at rest in the air is 113×10xm. Find x.

As the source is at rest , therefore wavelength of waves in air is given by ,

λ=v/f=340/300=1.13m=113×102.

Therefore, x=2.
