Solution

The correct option is A True

Formation of Potassium ion:

  1. The atomic number of Potassium (K) is 19.
  2. The electronic configuration of Potassium is (2,8,8,1).
  3. The outermost shell of Potassium atom has 1 electron.
  4. To have eight electrons in the outermost shell i.e. to complete its octet, Potassium atom loses 1 electron.
  5. On losing one electron, Potassium atom gains one positive charge and forms a Potassium ion (K+).
  6. The reaction is: Kā†’K++e-
  7. Thus, Potassium ion has a positive charge.

Therefore, the given statement is true.
