Solution

The correct option is D Rs 4454
Let the weight of the stone=x
Then, by the given condition,
6800=kx2.....(i).
The stone is broken in the ratio 5:7:8 by weight.
So, the weight of the first part=5x5+6+7=5x20,
the weight of the second part=7x5+6+7=7x20,
the weight of the third part=8x5+6+7=8x20,
The price of the first part=k(5x20)2=25400kx2,
the price of the secon part=k(k7x20)2=49400kx2,
the price of the third part=k(8x20)2=64400kx2.
The total of the new prices
=138400kx2.
=Rs138400×6800=Rs2346 (from i)
The loss=Rs6800-Rs2346=Rs4454.
Ans- Option C.
