Hyperthyroidism:
Women with hyperthyroidism who are on thyroid hormone replacement therapy have TSH levels above the desired 2.5 mU/L level in their early pregnancy.
High TSH levels indicate hyperthyroidism.
Symptoms: Tachycardia, tremor, palpitations, fatigue, shortness of breath, increased appetite, and bowel movements.
Treatment and Management: Limiting the sources of iodine are eggs, meat, dairy foods, seafood, and iodized salt(salt with added iodine). Giving beta blockers, radioactive iodine, and thyroidectomy.
Standard treatment for hyperthyroidism includes daily use of the thionamides.
