Solution

The correct option is A R=4h1h2
For angle of projection θ range is R, hence maximum height attained corresponding to this angle:
h1=u2sin2θ2g
Range R is same for angle of projection θ and (90θ) from horizontal, so maximum height for
(90θ) angle of projection is :

h2=u2sin2(90θ)2g and R=u2sin2θg

h1h2=u2sin2θ2g×u2sin2(90θ)2g
=u4(sin2θ)×sin2(90θ)4g2
[sin(90θ)=cosθ]
h1h2=u4(sin2θ)×cos2θ4g2
[sin2θ=2sinθcosθ]
h1h2=u4(sinθcosθ)24g2=u4(sin2θ)216g2
h1h2=(u2sin2θ)216g2=R216
R2=16h1h2
R=4h1h2
