Question

A projectile of mass 3 kg is projected with velocity 10 m/s at an angle 53 with horizontal. At the top of its
trajectory it explodes into two fragments in the mass ratio 1 : 2. Lighter fragment retraces its path. (g=10m/s2)

Solution

The correct options are
B Heavier fragment fall at distance 14.4 m from point of projection
D Energy released in explosion is 108 J.
Centre of mass is not effected by internal forces that causes explosion. so, m1x1=m2x2
1(R2)=2x2
X2=(R4) from center
And from point of projection it is (3R4)
R is range of unexploded projectile.
