Factorise the quadratic polynomial $x^{2} + 2 x - 15 = 0$ as shown below:

$x^{2} + 2 x - 15 = 0$
$x^{2} + 5 x - 3 x - 15 = 0$
$x (x + 5) - 3 (x + 5) = 0$
$x - 3 = 0$ or $x + 5 = 0$
