Question

A racing car has a uniform acceleration of 4ms2. What distance will it cover in 10sec after the start?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Given data:

Uniform acceleration of the racing car a= 4ms2

Time t=10sec

Initial velocity u=0

Step 2. Formula used:

Motion is the phenomenon in which an object changes its position.

The first equation of motion is given as:

v=u+at..........1

Where,

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

a = acceleration

t = time taken

The third equation of motion is given as:

v2-u2=2as........2

Where,

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

a = acceleration

s = displacement

Step 3. Calculations:

Substituting all the given values in 1, we get

v=0+4×10v=40ms

Substitute the known parameters in the equation 2 we get

402=2×4×ss=40×408=200m

Thus, the distance will cover in 10sec after the start is 200m.
