Question

A racing track is bounded by two concentric circles with circumferences 220 m and 286 m286 m. Calculate the area of the racing track.

Open in App
Solution

We have,

Circumference of circle (1) =220 m

Circumference of circle (2) =286 m

Now,

In circle (1) :-

2πr1=220

πr1=110

r1=110π

r1=110227

r1=110×722

r1=35 m

In circle (2) :-

2πr2=286

πr2=143

r2=143π

r2=143227

r2=143×722

r2=45.5 m

So,

Area of racing track=π(r22r12)

=227[(45.5)2(35)2]

=227[2070.251225]

=227[845.25]

=22×120.75

=2656.5 m2

Hence, this is the answer.
