A railway half ticket costs half the full fare and reservation charges are same as half ticket as full ticket. One reserved ticket costs 538 and one reserved full ticket with one reserved half ticket costs 832. Find the cost of full ticket and reservation charges ?????

Let the cost of full and half first class fare be Rs. x and Rs. x2 respectively and reservation I charges be Rs. Y per ticket.
Case I The cost of one reserved ticket
= Rs 538

⇒ x + y = 538--------(1)

Case II The cost of one reserved ticket and one reserved half ticket = Rs. 832
⇒x+y+x2,+y=832

⇒ 3x/2+ 2y = 832

⇒ 3x + 4y = 1664----------(2)

Now, multiplying Eq. (i) by 4 and then subtracting from Eq. (ii), we get

3x + 4y = 1664

4x + 4y = 2152

- x = - 488

⇒ x = 488

On putting the value of x in Eq. (i), we get

488 + y = 538

⇒ y = 538 - 488

⇒ y = 50
Hence, full fare is Rs. 488 and the reservation for a ticket is Rs. 50
