A ray of light strikes a plane mirror XY at an angle of incidence of 65∘, is reflected from this plane mirror and then strikes a second plane mirror YZ placed at right angles to the first mirror. What is the angle of reflection for the mirror YZ?
Since mirrors XY and YZ are perpendicular, their normals are also perpendicular. Thus when the ray of light strikes off the mirror XY with an angle 65∘, it will incident wth angle 90∘ - 65∘ on mirror YZ, i.e., 25∘. Thus, the angle of reflection for mirror YZ will be 25∘.
