Solution

The correct options are
C 1.6
D 1.58
The angle of incidence of all the rays is 45 at the hypotenuse. For a critical angle of 45 the refractive index must be sin 451 = 2=1.414

The value of μ should be greater than 1.414

θcritial=sin1(1μ)

if μ=1.3θcri=sin1(11.3)=50.28

μ=1.4θcri=sin1(11.4)=45.58

μ=1.5θcri=sin1(11.5)=41.8

μ=1.6θcri=sin1(11.6)=38.68

so 1.5 and 1.6 are possible values.
