A rectangle iron block of mass 10 kg is placed on the top of a table. Find the pressure exerted by the block on the table when 20 cm X 10 cm dimensions lie? Take g= 10 m/s2

Step 1: Given data,

Mass of block = 10kg

Dimensions of block =20cm×10cm

Acceleration due to gravity = 10m/s2

Step 2:

Area of block =20×10=200cm2

We know that 1cm=10-2m

200cm2=200×10-22m2=200×10-4m2=0.02m2

Step 3: Formula

Pressure=Thrust(Force)Area

Step 4:

Force=mass×accelerationduetogravityForce=10×10=100N

Pressure=1000.02=5000pa

Hence, the pressure exerted on the table is 5000pa
