A rectangle of length and breadth equal to 19 m and 17 m respectively has to be converted into a square of equal area. What will be the approximate length of the side of the square?

Area of rectangle $=(19\times 17)m^2=323m^2$ . Since, area of square = area of rectangle, therefore,

Area of the square $=323m^2$.

If the side of the square is $a$, the area = $a^2$.

$\Rightarrow$ $a^2=323m^2$.

Since 323 is very close to ${18}^2$ (i.e 324).

Hence, $a$ $\approx$ 18 m.
